EYELASH ENHANCER

Latisse® is a prescription treatment offered by Cleveland Cosmetic Surgery for hypotrichosis to grow eyelashes, making them longer, thicker and darker. Eyelash hypotrichosis is another name for having inadequate or not enough eyelashes. Latisse® can be used by plastic surgeons as an eyelash enhancer.

WHAT IS LATISSE®?

Latisse® affects the growth (anagen) phase of the eyelash hair cycle in 2 ways. First, it increases the length of this hair as an eyelash enhancer. Second, it increases the number of hairs in this growth phase. The exact way it works is unknown. The onset of effects with Latisse® is gradual. In the clinical trial, the majority of Latisse® users saw a significant improvement by 2 months. Only Latisse® has been approved by the FDA as a prescription treatment for hypotrichosis to grow eyelashes, and is available here at Cleveland Cosmetic Surgery. It also has been studied in clinical trials to demonstrate its safety and effectiveness.

THE LATISSE® EXPERIENCE

Once nightly, start by ensuring your face is clean and makeup and contact lenses are removed. Then, remove an applicator from its tray. Follow these steps:

  1. While holding the sterile applicator horizontally, place one drop of Latisse® solution on the area of the applicator closest to the tip, but not on the tip.
  2. Immediately draw the applicator carefully across the skin of the upper eyelid margin at the base of the eyelashes (where the eyelashes meet the skin). Go from the inner part of your lash line to the outer part.
  3. Blot any excess solution beyond the eyelid margin.
  4. Dispose of the applicator after one use.
  5. Repeat for the opposite upper eyelid margin using a new sterile applicator. This helps minimize any potential for contamination from one eyelid to another.
